Wondering what cleaning essentials experienced moms use around their house? I’ve rounded up the best cleaning products out there that are sure to get the job done and get it done quickly!
After becoming a mom I quickly started accumulating more and more cleaning products that I found myself needing. Any recommendation am experienced mom gave I immediately went out to buy! I soon had an overwhelming stock pile but slowly found what works best.
As a mom of three I’ve definitely cleaned up my share fair of messes of all kinds! I’ve found what products work best and get the job done right and quickly the first time!
Here here my top best cleaning essentials I absolutely love to use as a mom!
This post is all about the best cleaning essentials experienced moms swear by!
Best General Cleaning Essentials
These are the products you’ll need for maintaining a clean home in general. These aren’t room specific cleaners, just things you’ll use everywhere.
1. Shark Vacuum
First, lets cover the most basic. Vacuums. I absolutely love my Shark rotator vacuum. We’ve had ours for the last 4 years and its still going strong. This vacuum is wonderful, has great suction and is easy to clean!
2. Bissell Crosswave
BISSELL Crosswave All in One Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner
Next, you’ve seen it all over Facebook and every single other social media platform before but I’m going to shove in your face yet again. You NEED this. I was so kindly gifted a Crosswave by my in-laws last Christmas and let me tell you.. Game-changer! I know there are some mixed opinions about this but I absolutely love mine. I stand by my statement that this is a must.
3. Glass Cleaner
Okay, this glass cleaner is the absolute best! My mother-in-law cleans houses for a living and bought us this once and I never looked back! This glass cleaner foams up, doesn’t streak and smells great! I will never use a different glass cleaner.
4. Microfiber Cloths
Extra Thick Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
Honestly, I don’t know why these don’t rank higher on Amazon searches but they are amazing! As the name suggests, these cleaning cloths are THICK. They feel great and are super absorbent. Highly recommend these!
5. Magic Erasers
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Extra Durable
Are you even a mom if you don’t hoard Magic Erasers? Totally kidding but if you’ve been sleeping on Magic Erasers I’m here to wake you tf up! I use these bad boys everywhere, every day. Finger smudges on light switches? Magic erasers. Kid drew on the walls again? Magic erasers. Scoff marks under the bar stool? Magic erasers. You get the point haha but seriously, these are a MUST.
6. Folex
Lastly, my holy grail, Folex! A few years back all of the mom influencers were raving about Folex and I didn’t really buy into the hype but decided to check it out anyway. First, this shit is kinda hard to find for some reason. It’s not available at Walmart or Target, you literally have to go Home Depot or Lowe’s if you want to physically pick this up in a store. (I just buy through Amazon now). I cannot understand why this isn’t sold everywhere because it’s truly magic! If you’re on the struggle bus of having carpet like me, this will save your sanity! I’ve used this on nail polish, slime, marker, poop stains, you name it! It’s not just for carpet either, you can use it on almost any upholstery and even clothes! I LOVE Folex!
Best Kitchen Cleaning Essentials
Next, the kitchen. Here the best kitchen cleaning products you need in your kitchen!
1. Bar Keepers Friend
Bar Keepers Friend Powdered Cleanser
First up, Bar Keepers Friend! This stuff is great and has so many uses! I personally think it’s the best oven cleaner out there! I’ve used other cleaner marketed as for the oven and nothing even comes close to beating this. I also use this on the sink and and on my baking sheets. Love bar keepers friend, it’s one of those tried and true products that have stayed popular over many years for good reason!
2. Glass Cooktop Pads
If you have a flat cooktop like me, I highly recommend these! If I’m being honest, I’m kind of a shit cook. Night time is crazy hectic around here and so food boiling over or dripping is very common for me. These pads are great at cleaning up my burn on food. They even clean up those weird marks from water that randomly appear out of nowhere.
3. Scrub Daddy Sponge
Scrub Daddy The Original FlexTexture Sponge
Honestly, I don’t know why it took me so long to try these! It was me being stupid because I didn’t think they were “pretty” but who the f*ck cares if a cleaning product is cute as long as it works! Trust me, these work! Under warm water they’re soft and flexible but under cold water they stiffen up to really bring on the scrubbing power. If you’ve been sleeping on these like I was, time to wake up because these are life changing!
4. Garbage Disposal Cleaner
Glisten Garbage Disposal Cleaner
Actually, we don’t even have a garbage disposal where we live now but I still wanted to add this. This is the garbage disposal cleaner I would use a few years back when I did have one. It’s a little weird to use at first when trying to figure out the directions but I promise its not difficult.
Best Bathroom Cleaning Essentials
Alright, time to get down and dirty! Here are my top bathroom cleaning essentials that get the job done right the first time!
1. Toilet Cleaner
Once again, something my mother-in-law introduced me to! I swear to you, these toilet wands are worth the little bit of extra money. First, kids are gross and my toilet scrubber was always an item of interest with them for some reason. You don’t have to worry about that with this because the nasty part is disposable. The shape on these is also great because you can actually reach up in the little lip part where water comes out to really clean the toilet. These are a must, make the switch!
2. Tub and Tile Scrubber
OXO Good Grips Extendable Tub and Tile Scrubber
Listen, I’m only 24 years old and my back is fine but I still swear by this cleaning tool! I actually bought this when I was pregnant and my back was killing me but I still use it to this day because it’s awesome! This scrubber is perfect for cleaning the entire shower/tub super quickly without sacrificing any cleanliness. You gotta trust me on this one!
3. Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser
Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser Premixed Formula
Okay, I know I already raved about BKF earlier so I won’t write a paragraph again but I still wanted to list this. This is exactly the same as the BKF I listed previously but it’s pre-mixed into a paste of sorts. The original one is in powder form and is hard to apply to a vertical surface like a shower. Simply put, the paste form just makes it all a lot easier.
4. Daily Shower Cleaner
Method Daily Shower Spray Cleaner
I would be a bold faced liar if I said to you that I clean my bathroom every week. I’m not going to bullshit you, I aim for weekly but sometimes it just doesn’t happen and that’s perfectly fine! We have tile in our shower though and it will start to look funky pretty quickly. I saw this at target one day and decided to try it out and honestly, I love it. It’s not a replacement for actually cleaning of course but it gives you a little grace for in between cleanings!
5. Mop
O-Cedar EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop
Your Swiffer is not enough for the bathroom. I repeat, your Swiffer is not enough! Maybe when it was just you, you could get away with cleaning your bathroom floors with a Swiffer but if you have kids, its simply not good enough. You need a real mop for the bathroom. This is the best mop out there without a doubt.
Best Laundry Cleaning Essentials
Lastly, lets tackle the laundry! My least favorite chore by far is anything to do with laundry but is the chore I do the most. Like many of you, my washer is going daily. Here are my laundry cleaning essentials!
1. Washing Machine Cleaner
OxiClean Washing Machine Cleaner with Odor Blasters
To be honest, I never had the smelly washer issue until we moved into our current home. I don’t know if its the water or what but for some reason our washer machine gets smelly now. It’s so annoying and gross when you go to switch over nice, clean laundry just to met with a gross musty smell mixing in. We use this Oxi Clean washing machine cleaner about once a month to keep the weird smells away.
2. Dryer Balls
If you’re still using dryer sheets and fabric softener, you’re wasting money. We switched to wood dryer balls a while ago and will never look back! These are the ones I buy and I love them. We aren’t a huge “natural product” family as I’m sure you can tell from this list.. I don’t mind chemicals *hides* but these are environmentally friendly if that’s something you’re trying to be more mindful of. They soften up clothes, help with drying time and last a long time.
3. White Revive
OxiClean White Revive Laundry Whitener + Stain Remover
A few years back Clorox came out with something called “Smart Color Seek Bleach” and let me tell you, I loved that product! As the name suggests, it was bleach that was safe to use on clothes that had a limited amount of color on them. For example a mainly white shirt with a few flowers on it. For some dumb ass reason they decided to discontinue it and I was heartbroken. I searched high and low for another product like it and I think this is the best option I’ve come across. Keeps your whites, white and your colors bright. I still miss smart color seek but this works too.
4. Laundry Scent Boosters
Downy Infusions in-Wash Scent Booster Beads
If you want your towels and bedding to smell a-maz-ing use this!! I absolutely love this scent, I’m obsessed! I will use this for my clothes too but I love it for my bedding and towels mainly. My favorite thing ever is tossing my baby’s towel into the dryer with some of these while I give him a bath. When he’s done, I wrap him up in his nice warm towel that smells like heaven and he smells like heaven and its just.. *chef kiss* perfect!
Well, that’s all for today, folks! I hope this gave you some new products to check out that will make mom life easier for you! Please help a girl out and let me know if there’s something you absolutely cannot live without that I need to know about. Share all your secrets with me! Please. One mom to another – I’m begging. Lol
