Deciding to start baby led weaning is so exciting! This is the route I’ve gone with all three of the kids and I absolutely love it every time!
When my oldest was about to start eating I remember running to Target to look at all the utensils. I’m pretty sure I impulsed bought almost everything from the Munchkin brand thinking it was the cutest options.
Well, 5 years later we thankfully have much cuter options. These baby led weaning essentials are beautiful and aesthetically pleasing and can easily be found right on Amazon!

1. High Chair
Starting with the most basic baby led weaning essential – the high chair!
We personally use the Ikea ANTILOP his chair and we absolutely love it. Its super cheap and very easy to clean! If you don’t have an Ikea near you though another great option is a Tripp Trapp by Stokke.

This high chair is extremely popular in the Montessori community because it allows your child the independence of easily climbing in and out on their own. Another benefit of this chair is it is advertised as the seat that grows with your child because it can hold up 242lbs and can be adjusted for growing heights. Perfect fit for a minimalist momma who wants long term use out of a single product.
Another beautiful option is this wooden baby high chair! It’s a cheaper option but still gorgeous!
This chair resembles the Ikea high chair but a bit nicer if you ask me. I love the wooden legs and the foot rest is a beautiful and useful added touch! Also, this high chair comes with a removable tray for easy cleaning. I adore this high chair! So clean and modern without seeming space age-y!
2. Bamboo Plate
Next up, the plate! Another important baby led weaning essential!
We use and absolutely love this bamboo plate by Avanchy! They come in all kinds of colors but we personally have the gray bowl and plate set. Its the perfect size for a baby who is just starting to eat. The portion sizes of the plate are great! They also have a larger version for once baby is older and needs bigger portions.

I want to add to this adorable option as well. A bamboo divided section fox plate! We don’t have this one yet but I plan to purchase it soon because its so damn cute! I just had to share it with you!

3. Utensils
This one might be debatable for some but after three kids, I’d definitely still say that utensils are baby led weaning essentials!
The Ananchy bamboo set I listed above comes with a silicone and bamboo spoon which is great but isn’t much help when it comes to “stabbing” food. When your baby first start feeding they obviously won’t be too good at feeding themselves with utensils but I still recommend using them during mealtimes. I always give baby a spoon or fork even they don’t use it properly just to get them used to it and to let them explore it. My son is 7 months and already trying to eat applesauce with his spoon! None of my kids have ever had an issue using utensils later on by introducing them early.
Baby can be crazy when you first hand them utensils flinging them around and haphazardly aiming towards their mouth. I’ve definitely seen my fair share of babies poking themselves in the eye lol! For this reason, I always start with a lighter utensil first. These light plastic ones won’t hurt baby if they accidentally try to poke their eye out. The simple colors are beautiful and not obnoxious like the bright orange or lime green you normally see!
Once baby gets better control with using utensils I highly recommend switching over to toddler sized, classic metal utensils.

4. Bib – Baby Led Weaning Essential
Another must have baby led weaning essential – a bib!
We’ve gone though our fair share of bibs through out having three kids and I’m so happy to say I finally found my favorite! A bib with a front pocket is a must for baby led weaning. It saves so much unnecessary clean up!
These Mushie brand baby bibs are hands down the best bibs I’ve ever owned. Let me tell you about these bad boys! First, they come in so many different colors and designs. My favorite is the Cambridge Blue! Secondly, they don’t stain! This is huge for me, I’ve lost too many bibs to spaghetti sauce stains that won’t come off. I’ve never had this issue with these bibs, they clean up super easy and beautifully. Last important thing to note is that the pocket stays open enough to catch food but isn’t too flimsy to where it starts to sag. The pocket catches and keeps food in just like it should. I don’t even have a second option to recommend because I love these so much.
5. Snack containers
As soon as your little one starts eating, it becomes their new favorite thing to do. A snack cup is a must have baby led weaning essential for snack-y babies!

Yet another reason I love when my babies start eating is the ability to just hand them a snack! Snacks are the perfect way to keep them occupied, quiet or distracted for a few minutes. I’ve been through my fair share of snack cups and I like these the best. They’re collapsable which is great for storage, they come with a lid and of course they are available is stylish colors. This snack container is also all one piece (aside from the attachable lid) so your little one can’t immediately rip it off and dump the entire thing.
With BLW you’ll quickly learn that some days, baby eats like you’ve been starving them and other days they hardly touch their food. A great solution to saving left overs from meals or snacks is to use a Bento box instead of multiple Tupperware containers
Reusable 3-Compartment Containers
Bento boxes are truly the best. The brand Bentogo is popular and raved about for good reason. These bento boxes are from their “bento fresh” collection and are very aesthetically pleasing. They also have their Bentogo kids line with fun prints once you kiddo is a little older. For now, I think the fresh line has the most stylish color options.
6. Floor Mat
It’s probably no surprise that baby led weaning is messy! Talk about food ev-er-y-where! A floor mat is a nice-to-have baby led weaning essential and will save you a lot of hassle.
This high chair mat is water proof for easy clean up without having to throw it in the wash. It also has a nice non-slip grip at the bottom to keep it in place. I personally like the solid color best but there are plenty of pretty design options for floor mats as well.

7. Cups – Baby Led Weaning Essential
Finally, the last baby led weaning essential is cups! Babies honestly don’t need a lot of water so this is more for practice and fun.
I’m listing this one because the Bamboo Bamboo brand is known to be good quality and this cup is cute but if I’m being honest, I don’t love the color options or “drip” style they have going on. I like this gray one as well as the Cherry colored one but the other colors aren’t super great in my opinion.
I’m listing this other option as well because I think the color choices are a lot nicer and it’s slightly different all together. This cup is fully made out of silicone so it’s soft while still being durable.

Lastly, for non meal times or the days where you don’t even want to mess with it, these cups are still beautiful but have a lid and straw.
Stainless Steel Straw Cup for Toddlers
These stainless steel Cupkin cups come in beyond adorable colors, are insulted, easy to clean and have a silicone straw! Honestly, what more could we ask for? I absolutely adore these cups. Ugh, so cute!
I’m so glad we have cute, non-obnoxious baby gear these days. Gone are the days of only having the option between bright blue and lime green colored plates and bowls. Babies quickly start to take over every single space of your house so having baby led weaning essentials that are easy to look it definitely makes it easier.
