Hi friends,
Are you drowning in toys? Worried about Christmas coming and drowning even more? Same. One of our yearly family Christmas traditions is to declutter and donate toys to make room for the new gifts but with 3 kids this year it seems like no matter how much I donate or throw away there’s still more. It never ends.
I’m committed this year to mainly purchase non toy gifts.. Does this mean they won’t get any toys? No.. I still plan on purchasing 1 or 2 toy items for each kid and we also have family members on each side that love to spoil these kids.
I sat down and gathered my favorite ideas for non-toy gifts that I’m sure will still excite the kiddos but not add to the overcrowding hoard of toys.
1. Room decor
Making a kids room truly theirs and an extension of themselves is always exciting for them. Bedrooms are place to retreat to to hang out, relax & play. Room decor is a fun way to help your child express themselves and allow them to develop a sense of individuality.
- Room Lighting
- Paint their room any color of their choice
- New bedding
- Pillows
- Echo Dot Kids Edition
2. Art supplies
Another form of self expression is through art.. If your kid is anything like mine they’re always looking for new ways to create art and make crafts. Art helps with sensory and motor skills and we can never have enough in my opinion!
- Sticker Books – Ridiculously Cute Stickers
- Paint – Do-A-Dot Art Paint
- Pens – Glitter Paint Pens
- Easel – Standing Art Easel
- Clay – Molding Clay Kit
- Coloring – Fuzzy Coloring Posters
- Art Kit – Crayola Masterworks Art Case
- Paper – Magic Rainbow Scratch Paper
- Drawing – Light Up Tracing Pad
3. Subscription boxes

4. Outdoor toys/activities
For the love of sweet baby Jesus, please go outside and stop destroying the house! Outdoor toys are another item I don’t think we can ever have too many of! Get all that energy out.. please.
- LED light up swing! (This one is so cool!)
- Strider Balance Bike
- Outdoor trampoline
- Little Tikes slide
- Kids hammock
- Kids water table
- Razor scooter
- Little Tikes Cozy Coupe (they make truck, racing, fairy, etc versions now too!)

5. Clothing
Clothing isn’t always the most exciting thing to get on Christmas morning for all kids but if you find the right items you might be surprised! My daughter loves skirts, the brighter and fluffier the better!
6. Bath toys/items
I feel like bath toys get neglected.. We don’t really think too much about them till we see one of those Facebook posts of a mom cutting open a squirt toy to find a bunch of mold and we immediately run and throw them all away lol! Other fun bathroom items might include new hooded towels, bath bombs, robes/slippers, etc
- Yookidoo Elephant interchangeable funnel
- Rainbow bath bomb set
- Adorable bear hooded towel
- Unicorn slippers
- Plush dinosaur robe
- Octodrum musical bath toy

- Little girls purse (wallet, keys, phone, credit card)
- Press-on nails set
- Ergobaby baby doll carrier
- Unicorn music jewelry box

8. Furniture

- Bean bag chair (with stuffed animal storage)
- Kids table and chair set
- Princess tent
- Children’s fox plush chair

13. Experiences
This can include a membership to local zoo, art museum, water park.. Tickets to a show, a movie or concert! I would maybe do a “clue box” as a gift to physically open for these. For example.. mini zoo animal figures, a zoo animals book, a water bottle and hat to wear to the zoo or a box with swimsuit, goggles & sunscreen for waterpark passes. That way at least they have something to actually unwrap on Christmas morning!
14. Classes
Sign your little one up for a class you think might interest them or they’ve expressed they want do. Mommy & me cooking classes, swim classes, guitar lesson classes, etc.
15. Indoor entertainment
A good way to get some energy out on a rainy, snowy & super hot day! We love having gross motor activities to do indoors!

16. Books/Audiobooks
Books are of course always a great option for any age! My daughter loves Audible Audiobooks too, she’ll listen to them as she’s falling asleep instead of music sometimes or in the car when she doesn’t want to hear her brothers screaming lol
